Korea University (KU) and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) signed a strategic partnership agreement on May 9 in the Market Hall at the Industry-Academia Cooperation Center to collaborate on key future technologies. The event brought together around 30 officials, including KU President Kim Dong-One and UNIST President Park Chong-Rae. The agreement outlines joint initiatives in artificial intelligence, energy, biotechnology, and the environment. Both universities will share research infrastructure, conduct collaborative projects, and promote faculty and student exchanges. As universities are starting to adapt to the rapid development of technology, partnerships such as this stimulate the overall growth of the educational field.
President Kim emphasized that the partnership marks ¡°the beginning of a strong alliance to shape the future of humanity,¡± while President Park highlighted the goal of ¡°translating joint research into real-world innovation.¡± The signing of this partnership marks a mutually beneficial long-term relationship, reflected in the presidents¡¯ comments. Following the signing, the delegation toured UNIST¡¯s major labs, including facilities for nano and environmental analysis. The two institutions plan to hold joint conferences and explore international cooperation, reinforcing South Korea¡¯s competitiveness in science and education. This partnership is expected to build a sustainable research ecosystem and foster global leadership in strategic technologies.
